Hey folx! Thanks for tuning into some summer updates. This may be the last set of updates you’ll receive from us, but please read on to understand why.
Let’s jump right into announcements!
Announcements
1.) Sunrise Holland 2.0
Remember this from last week? Our new hub structure (if that term is unclear, think of it as a massive toolkit with information about how to operate this organization 😂) was made available to all of our members a while ago. We’re still figuring out how to make it available to our larger network and the public without copyright issues, but the plan is to release it THIS SATURDAY, July 30, at 12pm. We look forward to making this resource available. 😊
2.) Toolkits
As many of you know, I LOVE creating toolkits. I think it’s such an effective and efficient way to take action on many issues, and toolkits can always be edited over time and new resources added.
With that in mind, I’ve created several toolkits over the past 3 years that have been previously shared in this newsletter and across social media, but I thought it would be great to consolidate them. See the graphic below showing which toolkits are included in this composite, and click the link to access a linktree with all of the toolkits! Please share any of these with anyone you know who may be interested.
3.) Hub Director Recruitment
We are looking for a new hub director! Please see our social media for all details, and a brief description below.:)
Do you have experience in organizing, a passion for environmental and racial justice, ability to manage a team and respond to emails/texts quickly, and have 5-7 hours per week to give? If any of these describe you, consider applying at the link below.
4.) Goodbye
I always thought I’d know what to say when it came time to say goodbye: to announce that I’m leaving my position as Hub Director. After thinking about this decision for over 6 months, I thought it would be easier to find the words— but the truth is, there really isn’t an adequate way to describe how it feels to let go of something this important, something you’ve poured your heart, energy, and passion into for two years.
I want to be honest: Sunrise Holland never grew as much or had as much impact as I wanted it to, but we did some meaningful things, and we put our best effort forward. I’m grateful for this organization and the people who worked with me to make a positive impact on our community.
5.) Keep in Touch
I still plan to continue to run the Sunrise Holland social media, because its aims are very similar to the aims of my own account and I can share many of the same resources across both. Feel free to follow us at the links below, as this will be the best way to stay updated about what’s going on with the hub, if we find a new director and become active again, etc.
6.) Thanks
A HUGE thanks must go out to everyone who’s made Sunrise Holland what it is. We truly appreciate the support of everyone who reads our newsletter and follows us on social media. And we want to give shoutouts to several very special people who worked closely with us at different times in the organization’s history:
our former social media co-coordinators: Austin Garcia and McKenzie Rogers
our active members: Gigi Babel, Kelly Huggett, Ainsley Harju, Katelyn DeWitt, McKenzie Rogers, Jesse Davenport, Joe Schuler, Ricky Martinez, Gezelle Kingdom-Grier, Sophie Awad, Nolan Meier
Thanks for tuning into this edition of updates! We appreciate y’all and hope you’ll continue to follow our social media for any future updates!
Best,
Hannah Huggett
