Springing Forward!
Upcoming event partnerships, social media highlights, Plastics Crisis Event resources, and more!
Hey Sunrise Holland,
It’s been a while! If you are commemorating Ramadan or celebrating another holiday this month, we hope it goes well! We’ve got a fresh batch of announcements for you this week and some cool social media highlights.:)
Announcements
1.) Priorities List!
We are publishing our #AprilPriorities list tomorrow! Please check our post about this on social media and comment your thoughts regarding what we should prioritize, and we’ll give you a shoutout on our Instagram and Facebook stories next week! (@hollandsunrisemovement)
2.) Plastics Crisis Event
The plastics crisis event that we co-hosted last weekend with the Black River Green Team was a success! We had activities for kids, a fantastic presentation by a diverse group of students, an intergenerational group of speakers who shared stories regarding why addressing the plastics crisis matters to them, and we ate cookies, of course! 😊
Here’s the link to the recording of the event if you missed it live, and the link to our event resources!
3.) Upcoming Events
As most of you know, group meetings are postponed until June (however you can visit our website, https://westmichigansocialenvironmentaljustice.com, to find out the dates for those). In the meantime, we are putting all of our support behind a few Sunrise National initiatives and other local groups’ events.
The Black River Green Team, an organization we work closely with, is currently scheduling a trash clean-up somewhere in the Holland community. When they plan the location and time, we’ll send out that information and mobilize!
Additionally, youth scholars at the Kaufman Interfaith Institute are planning an invasive species cleanup, for which we also hope to mobilize volunteers.:)
For information about Sunrise National events, please be sure to sign up for their email list! These opportunities range from phonebanking to events across the country that focus on fossil fuel divestment and eradicating environmental racism.
4.) Social Media Reminder
Our advertisements rely upon you! Make sure to share this newsletter with family and friends and follow us on social media @hollandsunrisemovement. Follow us, like one of our posts and comment “done” for a chance to be featured on our Instagram and Facebook stories!
